New publication | The First HAEMUS Companion

The HAEMUS International Research Network is pleased to announce the publication of Late Antique villae in the Balkans (3rd–7th c. AD): Current Research Questions and Perspectives (Brepols, 2026).

This major reference volume stems from the 1st HAEMUS International Workshop, held in Villeneuve d’Ascq (France) and online from 10 to 12 November 2021, which was devoted to the theme Late Antique villae in the Balkans (3rd–7th c. AD): Current Research Questions and Perspectives.

As the inaugural volume of the Companions to the Late Antique Balkans and the fourth volume of Rome and After in Central and Eastern Europe – RomA, the book brings together the latest research developed from the discussions initiated during the workshop, enriched by broader thematic syntheses and case studies on settlement patterns, landscapes, and elites in the Late Roman Balkans.

This publication marks an important milestone in the editorial development of the HAEMUS network.
